When you come to Coronado, you set the pace. Coronado can accommodate visitors who prefer to keep a full schedule or those who just want to relax. Following is a menu of activity ideas to get you started.


Art-in-the-Park, Spreckels Park, 7th Street and Orange Avenue, (619) 435-3555
Hours are 9 am to 4 pm, first and third Sundays of each month. Spreckels Park turns into an outdoor art gallery. Whether you just want to browse or if you’re looking for a fabulous new piece of art to take home, this is the place to find it.

Awesome Artist, 1011 C Avenue, (619) 435-4700
Open Thursday through Sunday, no appointments necessary. Select an unfinished ceramic piece and paint it. After you are done, the piece is coated with a clear glaze and fired in a kiln. The finished piece is ready in just a few days. Private party area can accommodate 8 to 15 guests. Packages start at $12 per person.


Museum of History and Art, 1100 Orange Avenue, 619-435-7242
Learn about Coronado’s rich and wonderful history with a visit to the one-of-a-kind Museum of History and Art. The Museum’s galleries highlight Coronado’s settlers, its friendship with the U.S. Navy, the landmark Hotel Del Coronado and special exhibits connected to Coronado’s history and art.

Special Events

Farmer’s Market, Coronado Ferry Landing 1201 First St., 619-435-8895
Every Tuesday from 2:30 to 6:00 pm. Sample some of the freshest fruit and vegetables Coronado has to offer. With the downtown San Diego skyline in the background, the market is the perfect place to spend an afternoon and pick up a healthy bargain or two.

April: Coronado Flower Show (Mid April) The population swells as gardeners and flower lovers come to town for the largest flower show under a tent on the West Coast. Motorcars on Main Street, Friends of the Coronado Library Book Fair, Art-in-the-Park, the Rotary Club Pancake Breakfast and the School of the Arts Village Home Tour are just a few of the activities you can participate in that weekend.

May – September: Coronado’s Summer Concert Series in Spreckels Park, Sunday evenings Memorial Day through Labor Day offers a wonderful excuse to gather with friends to picnic and listen to music in the warm summer evenings. Free and open to the public.

Fourth of July Celebration brings a day jam-packed with activities to celebrate being an American. The highlight is the annual parade with more than 150 bands floats and groups. Other festivities include a fun run/walk, rough water swim, Art-in-the-Park, Fourth of July concert in Spreckels Park. World events have affected the certainty of the U.S. Navy SEALs demonstration. Please call the Visitor Center (619) 437-8788 for current information. The day concludes with a spectacular fireworks finale over the bay.

October (usually second weekend): The Chrysler Classic Speed Festival brings together 200 of the world’s top racing machines to compete on a 1.6 mile course on the taxiways of NAS North Island. The event also includes attractions and activities for car lovers and enthusiasts. Call (619) 283-5808.

December (early to mid): Holiday Parade and Open House. Festivities include Santa arriving on the ferry at the Ferry Landing and joins the festivities at Snow Mountain. The Holiday Parade starts from Eighth Street and continues down Orange Avenue, ending at R.H. Dana Place. Best viewing is along Orange Avenue. A city fire truck delivers Santa to Rotary Park (on Orange Avenue) so he can light the city’s 75 foot star pine, followed by a Community Band concert on the median near Rotary Park. Stores stay open late (until 9 pm) so you can get a jump on your holiday shopping. Fireworks over the bay at 8:30 p.m. complete this signature event. Sponsored by the Coronado Chamber of Commerce. Lamb´s Players Theater, 1142 Orange Ave., (619) 437-0600
Lamb’s Players Theater, a professional, non profit theater group, has a regular season of five productions from February through November with an additional Christmas production in December. Lamb´s Players Theater has been in Coronado since 1994.

Promenade Through the Past Walking Tour, 1100 Orange Ave, (619) 435-7242, fee is $8
Departs from the lobby of the Museum of History and Art on Wed., 2:00 p.m. and Fri., 10:30 a.m. Learn about some of Coronado´s famous buildings and architectural sites, including Tent City resort. Tour fee includes “Promenade Through the Past, A Walking Tour Guidebook of Coronado” and covers admission into the Museum of History and Art. Reservations suggested.

Gondola Company Tour, 4000 Coronado Bay Road, Call (619) 429-6317 for reservations
The Gondola Company, located at Loews Coronado Bay Resort offers cruises from 11 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week. Cruises are approximately one hour. All cruises include a complimentary hors d’oeuvre or dessert plate. Blankets, an ice bucket, and wine glasses are provided. You may bring your own beverage.

Coronado Pedicab Tours, Call (619) 572-4651 for reservations and information
Coronado Pedicab Tours offers a unique way to tour Coronado. There are two different 30-minute and 60-minute tours offered. Crown Jewel and Sunset Tours are 60 minutes long and each costs $60. Skyline and Moonlight Bay Tours are 30 minutes long and $30 each. Coronado Pedicab also offers shuttle service within Coronado for $5 per person and “Hop On, Hop Off Service.”
